It is a condition where a person “hears” a ringing sound in ones ear in spite of any actual sound being present in the situation. People with tinnitus often complain of a ringing noise in their ears, which drowns out all other noises, often making it very painful. This type of ringing is often compared to transient ear ringing but tinnitus is a more chronic and persistent ringing which can also take the form of roaring, chirping or hissing in some cases. The American Tinnitus Association estimated that over 52 million people in the United States have tinnitus and for about 15 million of them, the symptoms are severe enough to warrant getting medical treatment. And an estimated 3 million people have a very severe case of tinnitus that inhibits them from day to day activities such as attending school or their employment.

Most people with tinnitus also suffer from anxiety and lack of sleep. At night when all is quiet, the ringing in your ears may sound louder, making it harder to sleep. The lack of sleep, in turn makes you more tired during the day which increases your anxiety and stress. Poor sleep induces depression, negative thoughts and a resultant higher level of anxiety and tinnitus symptoms.

Tinnitus and hearing loss can be permanent conditions, thus, precautionary measures are advisable. If a ringing in the ears is audible after exposure to a loud environment, such as a rock concert or a work place, it means that damage has been done.

However, a man should always avoid Tinnitus and this is the best. Here are some tips given to avoid the Tinnitus:

* Avoid all loud sounds and noisy places.

* Avoid total silence try and mask the tinnitus with white noise.

* Avoid exorbitant use of alcohol, caffeine, or aspirin.

* Wear ear protection when using chain saws, guns, lawn mowers, loud music or power tools.

*Exposure to loud noises can make tinnitus worse and can also cause additional hearing loss.

* Control stress levels and learn how to relax in stressful situations.

These are some of the ways to Avoid Tinnitus, there is more!
